These awards are all based on 1998 activities and voting.

Man/Woman of the Year

The man or woman of the year is selected by the member clubs of the ICF (with the Independent Directors voting together as a club).

Man of the Year - BILL HOLLABAUGH

Biker and Buddy Rider of the Year

These two awards are determined by a combination of scoring in the Bike Events and Buddy Rider Events at each of the summer runs as well as riding to the runs, overnighters, and one-day events.

Biker of the Year - MIKE BUTLER

Buddy Rider of the Year - MIKE BUTLER, KEN KALSTEIN, SANDY "MAMA" REINHARDT (tie)

Most Participative Biker - ALDEN SPAFFORD

The Run Awards

The run awards are based on evaluations of the guest participants in the several summer runs produced by the clubs. In 1997 there were six such runs.

Best Run of the Year - SAN FRANCISCO G.D.I. CLUB

Best Run Show - SAN FRANCISCO G.D.I. CLUB

Best Individual Number in a Run Show - GOLDEN GATE GUARDS for JASON FONTAINE in "Stand By Your Man"

Best Group Number in a Run Show - GOLDEN GATE GUARDS for "Stop in the Name of Love"

Best Number in a Guest Night Show - JIM "PUSHY PHYLLIS" BLIESNER in "My Ding a Ling" at Knights of Malta Run

Best Food - SAN FRANCISCO G.D.I. CLUB

Best Bike Events - GOLDEN GATE GUARDS

Best Buddy Events - GOLDEN GATE GUARDS

Best People Events - SAN FRANCISCO G.D.I. CLUB

Best Special Events on a Run - DEFENDERS/SAN FRANCISCO

Best Guest Campsite - SAN FRANCISCO G.D.I. CLUB at the GOLDEN GATE GUARDS Run

A Club Excellence Award is awarded to each club that has a summer run, and honors that club for a particularly outstanding component of the run.

These awards are based on voting by those who were guest participants.
