Grants

The Fund makes outright grants to individuals who have participated with and supported the member clubs, who are in financial distress due to accident or illness, and have exhausted other sources of assistance. These grants are currently limited to $1,500 per year for each person.  Over the 34-year history of the ICF grants totaling over $182,000 have been given.

The process for obtaining a grant is:

  1. Contact any Director to obtain an application, or download it (Acrobat® pdf format)
  2. Return the completed application to the Director who will facilitate its review
  3. Prepare to appear personally before the Board if possible
Note that all proceedings around the grant process are completely confidential; the only public notice will be that a grant was awarded and the amount.

To identify a Director, contact any member of any of the Member Clubs listed above, or send a note to the ICF.

Funds

Money to support the activities of the Fund is raised through community benefit activities and individual donations. These funds are used for grants and administrative expenses. The annual Motorcycle Awards ceremony is a fund-raising event. The Fund has no paid staff. A financial statement is available to anyone.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of two persons selected by each member club and five non-club individuals selected by the Board itself. The Board meets monthly (see the calendar) to respond to grant requests and carry on the business of the Fund. These meetings are open to the public except for those portions related to grant requests and approval. Emergency meetings may be called to respond to grant requests.

Bylaws - Policies and Procedures

The ICF is governed by its Bylaws as well as a Handbook of Policies and Procedures which elaborates on the Bylaws. The Handbook also has a complete guide to the awards which are given at the Annual Motorcycle Awards event each February.

Mr. Marcus of Bay Area Reporter wrote a great story about the ICF in the November 24, 2005 issue.
